Experienced Appellate Attorneys
You can appeal a court decision if you believe errors were made by the trial court. When you appeal, a higher court reviews the case to determine if legal errors affected the outcome. If the appellate court finds that the trial court made an error, they can overturn the decision.
Appellate work is challenging and requires special skills. The attorneys at Faupel, Fraser & Fessler handle all types of civil appeals. We are licensed in all Michigan appellate courts, United States district courts, 6th Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. We also handle administrative agency appeals. Please call our Ann Arbor office at 734-418-0958 if you need assistance.
Fighting a Court Decision
Our attorneys have done appellate work in several groundbreaking areas of law. Faupel, Fraser & Fessler also won a landmark decision in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) case. We have many published decisions.
It is important to understand that an appeal is not a new trial and does not include new information about your case. During an appeal, the appellate court will examine the record from your trial court case. They look for any errors that an officer of the court may have made during the trial.
Our job is to prepare the brief, submit it to the judges and, if necessary, present oral arguments. You need a lawyer who has the research and writing skills necessary to prepare briefs and arguments that meet the high standards of appellate court judges. Not all attorneys have the ability or the desire to take on appellate work - but we do.
